Relying on a car for a Magical Day

We recently had a family day out in Yorkshire where we visited Beninbrough Hall and Gardens and The Forbidden Corner. I was glad of the opportunity to visit both places because you need to rely on a car. Not exactly the most sustainable approach but a necessity!

Beningbrough Hall & Gardens

We spent the morning at Beningbrough Hall and Gardens, a National Trust property, situated 8 miles North West of York. It is very difficult to reach if you do not have your own transport so I had to rely on my parents to visit there. My parents have been before so my Dad explored the Walled Gardens and Mum and I visited the Hall. I was given a complimentary audio guide and it was interesting listening to the information in the period rooms that were linked with John Bourchier, his family and the era they lived in. Beningbrough Hall is in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery and there are over a 100 portraits of influencial figures that linked with the 18th Century. It was an interesting place with so much history and the interior was exquisite. The Baroque design for the exterior was nice and this linked

The Forbidden Corner

At The Forbidden Corner we met up with my brother, my niece and rest of the family. The Forbidden Corner is known as 'The Strangest Place in the World' (Colin R Armstrong) and was originally a private folly but now anyone can come and visit. The attraction is set in Tupgill Park's gardens and has a labyrinth of tunnels, mazes, follies, chambers, a castle, grottos and surprses. Children and adults alike can look for the clues in the guide provided and experience the many delights and surpises that come their way. We spent a couple of hours exploring and it must have

been one of my favourite attractions I have ever visited. I highly recommend it but the pain is that you need to drive there as public transport does not exist! So I have to rely on someone to take me there whenever I plan to go.
